Plasma Sabers in Star Fred

Top of the morning everyone!

Star Fred finally has a cover, to most people they probably think this is easy, but this was actually hard to do. I don't have photo shop, so this is all green-screen and Microsoft Paint. I think the Light saber effects were easier than that cover, and that wasn't very fun to do either, but I'll talk some more on that later.

College has been some what hard. In High School if I forget my focus pill it would be no big deal, I would go to school and in most cases I would have a better day and feel happier. But now, if I can't write my 3 paragraph essay on a very boring story in 50 minutes, then I'm in trouble, and that can add to my anxiety, which can make things worse. Also I have a hard enough time listening to my English teacher as is, but with out a pill its 5 sentences and I'm lost. Art is fun though, I'm already done drawing my skull and it's in ink. Oh and my 47 Year old friend I met, I found out so much about him. He was in the Navy and worked in the Nuclear Submarine USS Ohio. Plus early before he got to school he had to break in to a car and made it to class on time. There are some interesting people in college, its a lot of fun.

A couple of days ago my friend Freddie and I got into a little argument. Freddie and I agree now he over reacted but this was still a good story. I was just joking around with him and he got so angry at me that he wanted to leave. My friend Brendan went outside to talk him in to staying, and I was thinking if he comes in I shouldn't have to apologize. He did over react but I remembered something. I have been watching a show called Sailor Moon, and at the end of every episode there was a lesson to learn, and I remembered Sailor Moon said sometimes friends don't get along and when you upset your friends sometimes you should just say your sorry. And this made me rethink what I would say. So when Brendan and Freddie walked back in they were ready for a fight to get my apology. but instead, they heard last thing that they thought I was going to say. I told them what Sailor Moon taught me and that I was sorry. After words we all sat down and played Gears of War 3 and ripped each others arms of in multiplayer mode. It was the fastest argument ever, it all happened in about 5 minutes flat.  Remember kids 90's cartoons are good for you, oh and you should say your sorry when you hurt someones feelings, even if they over reacted.

Now the big news in Star Fred!

This week we found a relatively easy way to make light saber effects. before we were just going to fight with sticks and call it good. But now with the green-screen, the beam follows the colored blade were ever it goes. Some people said that the effect looked 2-D but it is 3-D, it's just a little hard to tell by my swings. here's the concept of that effect at work.

Now I just got to learn a new software and then Part 2 can begin. were almost ready i'm so excited. Hopefully the next Blog will have news of a new software.

Til then, see you later and may the force be with you!

Special Effects Improvement!

Hello to who ever might be reading and welcome to my blog!

For those who do not know what Star Fred is, Star Fred is a Parody of Star Wars, but it is a different story in some ways. My friend Freddie needed a video for a school project. I told him lets make Star Fred Episode IV: A New Pope we made part 1 in one week, that includes all the CGI (computer generated imagery) which was even harder to do back then. now we're finishing what we started in high school. here is the link to Part one.

We have made some pretty big new leaps in Star Fred's special effects but I'm going to save that for last.

High School is over and now so is Summer, which means its time to start college. I'm now starting my first year at Olympic College, it feels weird being the youngest guy there, but I fit in fine. One of the guys I talk to there is 47 years old, and he is fun to talk to. Our English teacher is quite funny and kinda intimidating. Its sometimes hard to tell if he's giving you the death glare or just listening to what you have to say. Also when he gives you an assignment and we all aren't sure what the directions are he will just tell you "do whatever," I guess all he wants is a well structured paragraph. nothing wrong with that.

Art class is also a lot of fun, people think i'm funny and the drawing tips I learned over the summer just so happens to be the same thing we're learning, yay me! We are currently drawing a skull in class and we all can't seem to figure out what the animal is. Some people think its a pig, some think its a dear, and the Asian guy that sits next to me insists its a squirrel (there is no way its a squirrel).

parking at school is a nightmare in the mornings. I get there 1 hour early to find the last 2 parking spaces. because of this I haven't been able to find time to see my old teacher and friend Tony. But because my art teacher lets us out early I might get to see him again some day, maybe tomorrow.

Okay then, enough about me, now whats new in Star Fred. Things have been getting pretty exciting here, last week I had at long last perfected green-screen technology without spending a dime! For those who do not know what green-screen technology is, green-screen technology is were you stand in front of a screen that preferable is not a color found on you. And then a computer replaces everything with that color to a background of your choice. Its the same thing that weather man use to show you the Doppler radar. That's right they don't just stand in front of a big TV. (=_=) Right now the Green-screen part of it has been solved which is hard because of lighting. But unfortunately the free software I've been using... it does video but... not audio! Sigh... so now i'm going to have to pay 40 to 60 dollars for some software... oh well. here's an scene that wont even be used in Star Fred but shows every thing I'v been doing.

Most impressive, and now with my training complete it is time to make a movie (star wars reference). oh and here are some pictures of my green-screen set up.
Your eyes do not deceive you, it is blue. And I don't have a real tripod so I Macgyver'd one with duct tape. But it works... and its free.

That's all for now, see you later.
